About The Future Anthropologists
If you’ve ever stared out the window and found yourself pondering these "unconventional" questions:
- Behind the "Oriental Gem" tag of the Crested Ibis: Beyond the ecological miracle, how many complex conservation KPIs are actually tangled in a "game of wits" with local villagers?
- Indigenous people in the Amazon: Do they guard the ancient rainforest while simultaneously scrolling through AI-curated short videos under satellite signals?
- In the shadow of skyscrapers: Is the city map in a delivery rider’s mind closer to the truth of life than an architect’s blueprint?
Don’t doubt it—you’ve already secured your ticket to becoming a "Future Anthropologist."
Here, Fun is the Primary Force of Production!
We firmly believe that studying the world shouldn't mean locking yourself in a library. The Future Anthropologists was founded in 2020 by Dr. Wang Xiyan, an anthropologist from EHESS (Paris). Over the years, we have organized cross-border fieldwork and hosted inspiring lectures. Our activities feel less like traditional study and more like a massive, immersive real-world game:
- Trekking in Hainan: Trace the footsteps of Su Shi, the legendary Song Dynasty poet, while launching a rigorous culinary investigation—did this "Greatest Foodie of the Song" actually invent the street-style roasted oysters and salt-baked chicken? If not, why does every oyster stall on the island claim a piece of his legacy?
- Treasure Hunting in the Qinling Mountains: Join us for mushroom foraging and host a "Social Hierarchy Press Conference" for the fungi kingdom—why did the black truffle become the "crème de la crème" of Western fine dining, while the morel became the soul of the Chinese stew pot? Is it purely about flavor, or is there a "Game of Thrones" in the world of fungi?
- Cyber-Praying at Quanzhou’s Empress of Heaven Temple: Mingle with devout pilgrims to observe the modern youth's unique career path—why does everyone go to pray to Mazu (the Sea Goddess) before a job interview? What lies behind this "hardcore Chinese stress relief" of entrusting modern KPIs to ancient deities?
Our Mission:
"You don't have to be an anthropologist to see the world like one."
As you play, you’ll realize you’ve gained "Superpowers":
- The Bias Crusher: We lead you to feel the "social temperature" of different strata. When you can truly read the sprint of a delivery rider or the silence of a youth on the frontier, the high walls built by misunderstanding will crumble.
- Super-Observation Training: We train you to observe like a detective and communicate like a cultural translator. You’ll stop just "checking in" on social media and start decoding the civilization ciphers hidden behind everyday life.
- A Global "Cognitive Translation Card": Whether you find yourself in New York, Paris, or anywhere else, this ability to grasp the essence of things will allow you to quickly find resonance and build connections across diverse cultures.
The world is a giant, unopened mystery box. Join us—drop your prejudices, bring your curiosity (and your appetite). Let’s run through the fields together and discover a real world ten thousand times more fascinating than any textbook. We are a good program
